Organic Soap… Yes it’s Shea Moisture

You all may not remember but the first CurlBox I received which I believe was the March box, I recieved some great items. One item that really stood out to me was the Shea Moisture Red Bush & Sage Shea Butter Soap.

20120803-114646.jpg
Now this was my first time with this particular item from Shea Moisture. Prior to this I had only known of the hair products, so I had to put this organic soap to the test.

I have been using it for sometime now and I have to say Shea Moisture has done it again got me. They continue to deliver great products. It smells good, leaves my skin feeling clean, it lasts longer than most bars of soap in my opinion. Most of all I know my skin is getting all of its vitamins, minerals, and goodness. Yes…all natural ingredients! (I wish I could list all of them but that wrapper is no where to be found). Though, Shea Moistures has a very excellent reputation for all natural ingredients. So we know it’s real. Lol

Thanks to CurlBox for supplying me with the goods and thank you Shea Moisture for keeping me in love.

Shea Moisture Black Soap Mask and Moisturizer

Received these two products in my National Natural Hair Meetup Day winnings from the lovely folks over at Shea Moisture. I finally got a chance to try them.

20120601-122404.jpg

In using other masks I expected a thick consistency; this was not the case with this particular one. The consistency was lightweight and really watery. I cleansed my face with my Cerave cleanser followed by the application of the mask. It went on easy and came off easy. Thumbs up to Shea Moisture once again. I left the mask on for 15 minutes; after rinsing off the mask and patting dry as directed, I applied the balancing moisturizer. My face felt fresh and rejuvenated!

The container states that the mask is good for removing impurities from the skin before they can cause any trouble. It also absorbs any excessive oil in the skin and refines. All of this was indeed true.If you have troubled skin or like pampering yourself then this is a fun and easy way to do so.

Gold Label Coconut Care

Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil, is made from organic, fresh coconuts in rural areas of the Philippines. The coconuts used are hand selected, and the pure coconut water from inside the coconut is used to extract the coconut oil using traditional methods.

20120429-204448.jpg

The amazing folks over at Tropical Traditions asked me to try some of their Virgin Coconut Oil and I can tell you it is a must try. I applied the coconut oil after washing to seal in my hair’s moisture. The coconut oil was very light on my hands as well as my hair. Unlike most coconut oils the consistency was really smooth which made it easy to handle and rub into my palms for application. My hair was left feeling moisturized and sealed. The best part about it was my hair did not feel greasy or heavy after applying. Awesome!

I can definitely see myself using this more often. Thanks to Tropical Traditions I now will be back to applying my coconut oil after washes as well as to keep my hair moisturized when dry. If you have not invested in a sealer for you hair, you should do so as soon as possible. Check out TropicalTraditions.com , for pricing and more information about their amazing Virgin Coconut Oil (which can also be used for cooking). They also have a variety of organic products so be sure to stop by.

Until next time…

Sealed and Moisturized

20120221-125337.jpg

If there is one product(besides water) that every transitioning and/or natural hair person needs is some kind of sealant for their strands. Most naturals live by the “coconut oil rule”, as others may use a (product junkie) mixture of other natural oils. For me, using coconut oil has made my hair feel moisturized and gives it that extra sheen to stand out. The only thing that sometimes goes wrong, is when I use WAY too much and my hair looks like a mean Jeri Curl. The best way to avoid that is of course using about a dime size amount or less on your hair.

I found on organicfacts.net that Coconut Oil has many benefits;
It’s contains:
Lauric Acid and Capric Acid which helps break down active bacteria which can cause hair loss.

Vitamin E which keeps the scalp, hair, skin, and nails healthy and fresh.

Moisture Retaining Capacity due to the fact that it is not broken down easily nor evaporated, which makes it very stable. Hence, hair will remain moistened and soft, preventing breakage.

Fatty acids which can aid in the treatment of Dandruff.

For naturals, coconut oil should probably one of your staple products. It has so many benefits for the hair, as well as the skin, and nails. A sufficient amount of coconut oil usually ranges from about $2 to about $6. Not expensive at all, especially when it saves you the option of having damaged hair, and can be used in more ways than one.

Be sure to check out your local health food store, supermarket, etc. and pick up some coconut oil. You WON’T regret it.

Until next time….
